“Curved Space was inspired by the poem Sci-Fi, by Tracey K. Smith, which posits an alternate universe, slightly skewed, but like ours. The music takes its cue from the poem’s first line, ‘There will be no edges but curves…’. Over three brief movements: Curved Lines, Curved Leaps, and Curved Paths, the unexpected is explored. Block chords massed in uncommon configurations join to form rounded phrases in Part I; arpeggios dart and leap, with quick registral changes, in Part II; and in Part III, angular lines arise out of a mist, coalescing and dissolving in a sustained resonance.” LK
