As part of their season opener, the Da Capo Chamber Players will present Tribute to the Angels, a vocal-instrumental cycle based on poetry of American-British poet, H. D. (Hilda Doolittle), who lived through the "blitz" in London in World War II. The poetry is from H. D.'s Trilogy, which emerged out of that experience. Soprano Jennifer Zetlan will join an expanded Da Capo group conducted by James Baker. Other works by Shulamit Ran, Elliott Carter, Chinary Ung, and Philip Glass.
Welsh baritone, Jeremy Huw Williams, accompanied by pianist Fifi Zheng, presents a recital of works by Chen Yi, Victoria Bond, Tim Mukherjee, Friedrich Kern, Barbara Jazwinski, and others, along with Mr. Karchin’s two songs based on poetry of Hart Crane and Theodore Roethke.
London's Fidelio Trio presents their first American performance of this 25-minute work, hosted by the University of Iowa's Center for New Music, and paired with Donnacha Dennehy's Bulb.

Louis Karchin and Joan Ross Sorkin’s Roman Fever, based on a Gilded Age tale by celebrated early twentieth century American novelist Edith Wharton, will be presented with soloists Jennifer Zetlan (Grace Ansley) and Sofia Scattarreggia (Alida Slade) and an expanded Washington Square Ensemble conducted by Jeremy Gill.
